Study in Italy: Dedicated Pathways for International Students
SSML Nelson Mandela welcomes students from all over the world with a pathway designed to facilitate entry into the Italian university system. From enrolment guidance to the PLIDA B2 certification — recognised by all Italian universities and AFAM institutions — we offer comprehensive support at every stage: documentation, visa, residence permit, and language preparation. The annual Italian language course (800 in-person hours, classes of up to 20 students) runs from October to July at the Matera campus and concludes with the PLIDA B2 examination, an essential requirement for enrolment at Italian universities.
International Student Enrolment
If you are an international student,
- Citizens of European Union Member States, or of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Republic of San Marino or the Holy See.
or
- a foreign national legally residing in Italy,

- Recipients of scholarships within the framework of European Union programmes.

Italian Language Course for International Students
PLIDA B2 Level Certification for Admission to Italian Universities
SSML Nelson Mandela in Matera organises Italian language courses for international students, awarding the PLIDA B2 certification, which is required for enrolment at Italian universities and AFAM institutions.

COURSE FEATURES
- Duration: 10 months, from October to July;
- 800 hours of classroom teaching and 200 hours of educational activities, including workshops, seminars, cultural visits and study trips.
- Classes are held Monday to Friday at the SSML Nelson Mandela campus in Matera.
- Classes of up to 20 students;
SSML Nelson Mandela in Matera offers international students an Italian Language Course.
- Computer and language laboratory;
- Distance learning platform (Student Reserved Area);
- Multimedia classrooms;
- Library;
- Study room;
- Wi-Fi internet connection.
CERTIFICATION
At the end of the course, students at the Matera campus are required to take the PLIDA B2 Examination, the Italian language certification required for admission to Italian universities and AFAM institutions.
